Western Mass READY and National Preparedness Month

As part of September National Preparedness Month, the Western Region Homeland Security Advisory Council has organized a month’s worth of events designed to make preparedness a part of everyone’s daily lives. Project partners include the American Red Cross; Public Health Preparedness Coalitions; the Medical Reserve Corps; municipal officials in cities and towns in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire Counties; along with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Emergency volunteers will also be hosting informational booths at the 3 County Fair in Northampton, Third Thursday in Pittsfield, the Big E in Springfield, and the Franklin County Fair in Greenfield, and are available to answer questions about preparing for emergencies. Towns and cities throughout western Massachusetts will also be holding their own emergency preparedness events, and FEMA and WRHSAC will also be holding many internet-based events through which citizens can learn about how to prepare. A full listing of events can be found here.
